I like sci-fi and fantasy
I do like comedy anime when it’s mixed with slice of life but I’m not sure if that will If I will like movies like that
If you haven’t seen the recent Shogun tv series - I’d recommend that.
- House (1977)
- The Drifting Classroom.(1987)
- The Happiness of the Katakuris (2003)
- Summer Time Machine Blues (2005)
- Executive Koala (2006)
- Big Man Japan (2007)
- Fish Story (2009)
- HK: Hentai Kamen (2013)
+1 for House.
Perfect Blue by Satoshi Kon is fantastic.
The first time I saw that movie, it messed with my head. Definitely worth a watch.
- Takeshi Kitano: Boiling point, Violent Cop, Hanna Bi
- The recent Shin Godzilla
- Your Name
- Seven Samurai
- Battle Royale
If you liked Squid Game, consider Oldboy
Squid game is Korean and I saw clips of that but could never get into it as It didn’t interest me at all
It also feels like the internet over-hyped squid game past what it originally was
It was good, but I don’t ever want to watch it again. Same for Oldboy. And I’m not in for season 2.
I’m aware it’s Korean but I stand by my comparison.
Casshern (the 2004 live film not the original anime)
I think I saw “One Cut of the Dead” with subtitles on a plane, so I assume subtitles are an option. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7914416/
I didn’t expect to like it, but ended up liking it by the end of the movie.
If you want to hurt yourself, the always praised Grave of the Fireflies. As someone else put it the best movie I will never watch again. I still tear up when I think about it. 🥹
e…maybe there are some probability that Japanese movie is famous for tokyohot
