Not really, obviously I’ll take their library into account when talking with them about Novels but I don’t judge them for reading things I consider bad. Iread enough trash myself and find it enjoyable so I can’t pretend like the same can’t be true for others

Let’s say you have a daughter and she asks you to help her choose who to date since she can’t decide between two identical twins.

Both twins read light novels and Twin A has every volume of Jobless Reincarnation, Arifureta and Survival in Another World with My Mistress. The other Twin B is identical as far as you can see but his bookshelf has every volume of Ascendance of A Bookworm, Average Abilities and Tearmoon Empire.

Which twin would you suggest your daughter dates?

Neither, she’s too young to date. No daughter of mine will ever be old enough to get a boyfriend! I am going full Bonifatius!

Benno had me checking which brother could afford to look after my daughter. But then Bonifatius came in and slapped some sense into me.

Freda and Gunther are watching me carefully to see what my next move is…

Ferdinand would probably use them both up for some experiment, then steal their citizen coin and have them starve to death somewhere where they can’t escape. While taking notes who dies first. Then use the corpses as makeshift throwing objects to spite some of the gods for annoying him. #Just Ferdinand things

I judge people by their lack of library, not what’s in their library. 46% of Americans didn’t bother to read a book last year. I personally find that ridiculous.

I will also say that if they only have religious books, I don’t think that counts either. But aside from that, doesn’t matter if it’s highbrow or lowbrow, isekai or scifi, as long as they read SOMETHING. Besides, some of the stuff I read is trashy so who am I to judge.

From the title, I thought this was going to be about depictions of prejudice in novels (based on race, magical ability, wealth, etc.).

I can’t afford to judge others based on what they read, lest I be judged myself. Something about stones and glass houses.

The Midweeks are pretty dead generally so I threw in some spicy ones into the pool that are more argumentative.

But prejudice in light novels is good as well. I could think of a couple that have prejudice as a main plot point. Especially concerning class systems or against beast folk. I’ll add it to the pool as well.
