Trying to find a mecha/robot anime probably It’s an old anime. It has one scene where a boy was sitting inside robot then a girl jump on his lap and he closed the robot head and they were going to fight a large mothership like thing. Also, that girl was not human I guess(not sure).
Could be Neon Genesis Evangelion, there’s a scene where Shinji and Asuka are in the pod together, though they are both human.
