The last 4 episodes were… decent. It’s too bad the story didn’t get a stronger writer/editor/director for the rest of it.
Others have noticed that Ouji/Wagnan recovered quite quickly after having a hand through his chest, and that ring of his…
I finally motivated myself to sit down and watch the finale. This whole season felt like a completely different show from the first season. Animation and production issues aside, the story was just all over the place. We had a whole new cast of characters and the charming silly fun and heated rivalries from the first season gave way to lots of brooding, edginess, and convoluted machinations involving tons of stuff and characters that we are never really introduced to. I get the feeling that there are like two dozen different plots going on behind the scenes, but we aren’t even given enough clues to make educated guesses.
Looking back now that this season is over, it is remarkable to me how this season failed to capitalize on the expectations generated from the first season. Like I just wrote above as well, I don’t think it is all due to production issues either and a large chunk of it can be attributed to the source. Perhaps if they made large changes during the adaptation, like including anime-original scenes with the cast we already knew, then it might have been able to keep a hold of people’s interest in the second season. Who knows…
In any case, season 2 is over and only Jahad knows if there will be a season 3. I will not be holding my breath.
