Do you have any strange reading habits? (e.g. reading out of order, folding corners)

For reading I usually binge-read every volume that is transated and never pick-up the series again. Although sometimes I pick-up it again if it was realy good, or stop halfway through if it’s bad.

Interestingly it’s opposite for anime and TV series. I almost never binge-watch.

    Wait, folding corners is strange‽

Related: I only realised recently that “dog-eared” referred to a folded corner on a page.

      Wait, folding corners is strange‽

My ex-wife would always scold me when I did that. And if I were to write into the margins I would sleep on the couch. Sadly enough we divorced after I switched to ebooks so I couldn’t even start to deface books out of spite :(

In German, they translate to Donkey-ears.

I won’t fold corners of a book if it’s from a library or borrowed from somewhere else, but if it’s my book I’ll be writing in the margins, underlining shit and folding corners to my heart’s content.

When I buy a second-hand book and see someone else has done that it gives me a warm feeling because I know someone else loved that book.

Ah I never knew that! It’s the same in Dutch too: ezelsoren.

The only habit I’m aware of is taking notes and posting them online. I also rate volumes internally by how often I lose concentration and start doomscrolling or browsing while reading.
