Hi ani.social! You may or may not recognize my username as the person that was making the general anime discussion threads on the lemmy.ml anime community prior to defederation. Post The Defederation-ing I made a local account here and want to try to bring more anime discussions to the anime-focused lemmy instance. With that in mind, I plan on making these discussion posts weekly going forward, just like I have done previously on lemmy.ml.
So, same rules as before. This is the thread to talk about any kind of anime topic that strikes your fancy. Have a break-up and looking for some recommendations to really wallow in your feelings? Finish watching Vision of Escaflowne and have some thoughts about character nose design? Wondering whether Zom 100 will ever come back from the dead? This is the thread to talk about it!
Just remember to tag your spoilers! If you forget, then all the titans fleeing Eren will come after your favorite MC instead (full disclosure, I only watched season 1, so no idea if that makes sense or not).

This past week has been busy with IRL work after
a round of layoffsrestructuring at work. The good news is that I still have a job. The bad news is that I don’t have as much time to pick up shows as I would like. Specifically, two shows from this season I want to watch are The Apothecary Diaries and Tearmoon Empire, but I just haven’t found the time.I also have yet to start Zombie Land Saga season 2, but have been able to keep up with Eminence in Shadow and Frieren, my favorite LN and manga respectively. The most recent episode of Frieren was truly special. The action-focused sequences in the manga were not my favorite parts and I often just wanted them to wrap up so that we can resume our melancholy-filled elven reminiscing. However, the anime has really elevated the action sequences way beyond the manga. Episode 9 absolutely blew me away and exceeded all my expectations.
Also, only tangentially related to anime, but LN vol. 6 released in Japan for Eminence in Shadow, so I have been working my way through fan translations for that. The community worked really quickly on it and it is already fully translated on Novel Updates. I suspect from reading it (about 1/2 way through right now) that it is probably MTL’ed and then edited. However, the MTL tools must be pretty good these days, because I haven’t really been too bothered by it so far.
@hitagi@ani.social it is up to you as the mod for this community, but we used to pin this in the other community each week. Alternatively, if you are looking for moderator volunteers, I can humbly volunteer so that I don’t have to bother somebody else each week to do pinning/unpinning.

I maintain a cross-post in the biggest anime community on reddthat, as well, and intend to occasionally refresh them indefinitely.
Alternatively link to it in the sidebar, I’ve been doing that from other anime-related communities. Discovery is one of the weak links of the fediverse, still, so sprinkling links wherever they are relevant old-school style will help new users find the communities they want.
This is a good idea. I will add it to the sidebar later tonight after I am no longer on mobile. I am wary of having too many pins and pushing fresh content too far down the page “below the fold” so to speak.
