It’s like GT in the sense that Toriyama wanted to go back to the original DB format of having Kid Goku go on an adventure.

I think a lot of GT haters are going in expecting a sequel to Z (which it becomes in the second half), but have never watched the original DB.

Personally, I’m only watching Daima because it’s Toriyama’s last series.

See I think GT has been given a bit of an unfair shake. It was enjoyable but I watched the original Dragon Ball when I was a kid; it reminisced to me quite similarly, for the reason you’ve described - it was a fun adventure

Giving it too much thought, I’ve come to the conclusion that it was the sheer number of people in the army. Goku had taken out squads, but now they are throwing everything at them. Goku and crew are at their base at this point

They are capable of incapacitating the heroes with some type of electric blast. I assume they’re lasers or what ever don’t feel great, and with that many shooting at once it would eat them alive

As for not powering up, I don’t have any good answer. Maybe the EMP drained energy, or prevented them from powering up somehow. They could be saving their power since they are at the castle and they know the fight is just beginning. Maybe it is for no reason at all. We probably won’t get an answer

Side note, would anybody be interested in a watch along of the dub? Maybe once they wrap it up. I remember a user mentioning they were probably going to watch Z before Daima, and they were worried about missing out on the discussion. I want to give everyone a chance to talk about the show and enjoy it with others. All suggestions are always welcome as well

I don’t think I’d watch the English dub. It’s probably very easy to catch that I’m not a native speaker and I’ve never watched any official Dragon Ball release in English - I’m not even familiar with the Faulconer score people like to rave about.

However, if Super was to return, I’d like to give the manga a shot. Could be a fun community activity to read a few chapters each week leading up to a new release. If the anime specifically was to return, reading/watching both could be fun too.

My estimation is already off, we haven’t seen the Ginyu Force at home yet. As others already said, this one mostly felt like filler once again.

They really tried to get some form of suspense going, but neither Goku nor Vegeta even went Super for most of the episode and Goku already defeated a whole army in one of the earlier episodes. In fact he defeated the guys that came to help them, and he did it without any effort. Vegeta could SSJ3 Final Flash the whole thing in less than 5s and the episode would be over, especially since he could have eaten the very same insect he ate anyways.

On a sidenote, assuming they actually had any kind of chance, why didn’t they attack the Tamagami with their whole army?

The third eye could be interesting. Judging by their last few scenes Gomah will get betrayed by yet another Glind. As he should, he’s been a shitty boss to Degesu from the start. Speaking of Glind - did Shin do anything this episode? I don’t even recall seeing him.

Oh, and the scene with Hybis was once again the best part.

Hybis always steals the episode. I love him so much. I’ve mentioned this else where, but if Gomah is the final bad he will have to get the eye. As for the Tamagami, it was stated they had to be fought one on one

That’s assuming they would he capable of extracting the ball after. Nevah has proven himself to have quite powerful abilities. He created shields between the worlds no one could get through

I like most of Daima but this was a pretty weak episode honestly

more awkward powerscaling with Vegeta throwing in the towel and needing a healing bug after getting hit a couple of times? and they didn’t try going super saiyan until the very end? ok lol

these are demons that were afraid of Dabura’s strength, but apparently their guns and grenades are pretty good idk

    Hybis continues to be hilarious

I agree, but I don’t know what else to do but just roll with it. I’m a big wrestling fan so suspending disbelief isn’t hard for me

I’m going to cry if we don’t get more Super. Daima is a fun little adventure, and I wouldn’t be upset with more of it , but Super was still ramping up in the anime manga

Just felt like padding. Battle should had been over in seconds. Maybe if they had another silly excuse like “air is even heavier here” but not even that, just “it’s hot over here lol”
