This sounds like a very different show to the one this post is about.
Left Lemmy due to public voting, may be back if no alternative arises.

Essentially my thoughts going into this as well. I was hoping it would strike a vibe similar to “Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi (My Senpai is Annoying)” with alternative roles, but so far I’m relatively unimpressed.
I was planning to watch the whole season as the trailer and premise seemed nice, but I may have to bump it down to 3 episodes.
Oh really? I did a cursory search of Hot as I assume that’s where it would be, so I guess I just missed it. Sorry about that!
I’ve tried to play the games, but unfortunately I just couldn’t get into them. I’m glad to hear it’s a faithful adaptation at least, I hope they cover the majority if not all the content then, and I also hope the story is good too.
As for fan-service, I’m not sure they will. It seems Ryza and thighs are somewhat synonymous these days, and I’m sure they’ll play into that as much as they can. But we’ll see I guess.
I mean, there’s the land around Hyrule, and also the oceans as I was hinting in my comment. Yona is also apparently from another domain, which could perhaps a sea based one? They could expand the current Hyrule via the rivers and lakes as well as an even further restored Hyrule, perhaps expanding some of the towns and villages. As for story, I feel like they keep hinting at the Triforce without actually implementing it fully, so maybe that?
Deeper depths or higher sky also seems possible, though I don’t think they’d do that, as much as they feel prototypical to some degree. Seeing the original home of the Zonai would be cool though, if it’s still there extremely high up. Perhaps a proper dark world? I know the Depths are a pseudo-implementation of that, but even so.
My logic behind joining lemmy.world was that defederation may be an issue, current or future, therefore it made sense to join the one that for one has the most people, and for two is the least likely to be defederated or randomly defederate others.
Granted, I believe beehaw did in fact defederate .world, and I think it was not long after, so maybe I did choose poorly.
I was tempted to join feddit.uk, but I wasn’t sure if that would put the unnecessary identifier of “This guy’s probably British!” on me everywhere I go.
Can they keep with the same new formula?
Yes, absolutely.
Should they?
I’m on the fence about this. On the one hand, it’s a great formula, and many current Zelda fans have grown up with and have known little else (except maybe Skyward Sword HD). Nintendo has had great success with it, so I can’t imagine they’d depart from it soon, as much as attempting to predict Nintendo is a futile endeavour. On the other, I have my gripes with it, and I dearly miss the classic formula.
I think at the very least, they’re going to turn this into a trilogy within the same Hyrule. I don’t know if it’s my imagination, but the oceans and Eventide Island seemed a lot more fleshed out this time around, so maybe they’ll do a Wind Waker type thing to be a counterpart like BotW is to Zelda 1 and TotK is to OoT/MM.
Based on some of the BotW concept art, it’s clear the team is capable of coming up with a lot of ideas. The “Modern” Zelda concept almost certainly inspired the Master Cycle DLC, and the “Hyrule Invasion” concept potentially also inspired the Zonai stuff. So I think they’ll come up with neat stuff regardless.
(Edit for Typos.)
Not sure where to ask this, so I’ll ask here. Linking to pirate sites (not content) is okay here as I understand it. However my account is with Lemmy.world, which in its “rules” specifically states “Protect our community from harassment, malicious or illegal content”. Would I technically be at the whim of Lemmy.world by linking to pirate sites, or do I have some leeway here?
I mean, the same was true with Reddit. The only difference here is that communities can have the exact same name so long as they’re on a different instance.
I think the issue with the Wii U was a combination of marketing issues and the name issue. To look at the Wii U’s box, unless you’re actually aware it’s a new console, one may naively assume that the Wii U is actually just the gamepad, and a peripheral to the actual Wii. Like you have the Wiimote, Wiipad sounds a bit off, yeah Wii U sounds fine.
If they keep the Switch name, they need a strong indicator it’s a sequel console, rather than something similar. “Switch 2” is the most obvious choice there, but not very in tune with their naming aesthetics. “New Switch” seems more Nintendo-esque but I’m not sure they’d go for it.
I think it would be wise to avoid the Switch name, but also emphasise that it’s backwards compatible with the Switch in the marketing. It also depends on what gimmick they give the console, if it has the same gimmick as the Switch, calling it something like the Nintendo Swap might work? Maybe not the best, but neither was “Wii U”.
The hybrid design is probably the way they’re going to go. I’d love a higher spec one that isn’t though, even if it’s just a pipe dream. The ideal set-up for me personally would be:
“New Switch Lite” - Undockable, permanently handheld, like the Switch Lite but with better hardware.
“New Switch” - Dockable, again like the Switch, but better hardware.
“New Switch Pro” - Undockable, permanently docked, better hardware than the New Switch.
New Switch obviously not the best name, but my creativity is bankrupt. At least it’s not Switch U.
My Reddit Cakeday used to be nothing special. It’s June 30th. There’s a certain irony behind all this somewhere.
Honestly PrequelMemes is the largest subreddit I’d likely miss the most from Reddit. That and lotrmemes. It’s good to see it’s found a home here already!
It’s not from the recent Direct. It’s just the most recent trailer uploaded to Nintendo’s YouTube.
I haven’t watched the original material for any of the sequels here, so it’s probably going to be a slower season for me.
Out of the anime I feel comfortable sharing that I’ll be watching:
Shiro Seijo to Kuro Bokushi (The White Holy Woman and the Black Priest) - Honestly not sure when or how I added this to my list, seems comfy though.
Ryza no Atelier: Tokoyami no Joou to Himitsu no Kakurega (Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout The Animation) - Based on the Ryza video games. I tried to play the first entry, but I just couldn’t get into it. Hoping an anime adaptation will maybe sell me on the franchise.
Uchi no Kaisha no Chiisai Senpai no Hanashi (My Tiny Senpai) - Seems like an inverse to the set-up from Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi (My Senpai is Annoying) from 2021. I liked that, so hopefully I’ll like this.
Jidou Hanbaiki ni Umarekawatta Ore wa Meikyuu wo Samayou (Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon) - It’s been a meme for years, and honestly I kinda just want to see how this turns out, even if there’s a high probability of me dropping it after 1 episode.
dunno why but it wasn’t as good as the first two seasons of the main series
I still enjoyed it, but I think the same. In my opinion, this is hugely in part to the lack of the party dynamic, the interactions between our main squad. I’d also say the story was a little weaker, not much of note actually happens.
There was a patent filed back in the Wii U days (September 2015) which also described a scroll wheel trigger. Looking back at it now, it seems very Switch-like, though people back then probably would have assumed it was a Wii U Gamepad 2. Maybe it was an old prototype for the Switch that they’ve converted into a Switch 2?
Here’s the patent, and here’s the linked PDF with some images.
