    I loved this episode.

I read a lot of stuff. Mostly fantasy; sometimes I don’t remember small details, or even large ones. And I probably read ch57 at least a year ago. I should have forgotten.

And yet so many scenes shown in this episode were so memorable that I could remember it, in the minimal details.

Fern’s tantrum because of the staff. Lernen being able to detect instability in Frieren’s mana, but not Serie’s. Serie bitterly saying that she shouldn’t take human apprentices. The flashback with Himmel. Serie initially thinking that Fern was petrified because of Serie’s mana… only to discover that Fern could see it. It was such a moment of awesomeness, the young mage who’s into magic just to repay a corrupt priest taking care of her, that mage could do what nobody else could.

This is such an amazing episode! If it wasn’t already obvious, you don’t need flashy fight scenes to make the show appealing.

Every little detail ties into each other so perfectly, like how we start with a look into how Fern feels about Heiter and her relationship with Frieren.

Then the scene with Serie dismissing human mages because her student detected Frieren’s fluctuation but not Serie’s mana suppression, only to be shattered by Fern.

I love this show so much and I’m going to be so broken up when it ends :(

I wonder why did Serie ask Frieren about the magic she likes? She kinds of feel like a grandmaadult trying to make small talk with a child she doesn’t understand

I think she hoped Frieren would have changed since last they met and become the kind of mage she likes, but Frieren being Frieren, disappoints her again.

However, Frieren revealed, it was that spell Serie dismissed, the spell that produces a flower garden, that ultimately ended up conquering the Demon King.

They answered my question from episode 10, why more mages are not using the whole “conceal mana” trick. It’s because it takes forever to master and you’re better off focusing on learning other magic instead!

I can’t believe there is only one episode left, I hope that this won’t be the end and we will see a season 2 announcement at some point in the future!

Richter being a bad loser was on character with the other things he did and said.

Accomplishing that without turning him into a caricature, that was good writing and disciplined direction.

What does Serie’s mana fluctuating mean? That she’s suppressing her mana too?

I remember someone or other saying they can tell when someone is suppressing their mana because it fluctuates or something like that.
