Very standard isekai that doesn’t do anything new or interesting. The big notable thing was that the main character was incredibly unable to realize how powerful he’d become, to the point where it got pretty frustrating. He also spent most of his time just following the instructions of his menu voice, which is not really ideal in a protagonist. For anyone who just wants an isekai to relax with, though, there’s nothing really wrong with it, so you’ll probably have a nice time.
Underwhelming. 2/5
So, if you aren’t at all familiar with the source from this series, I would completely forgive you for assuming this is as generic an isekai as they come. The most novel thing about the story after this first episode so far is that our MC doesn’t come from Japan, but instead comes from a different fantasy world. Other than that, this is a cookie-cutter, summoned to another world, discarded as useless, but actually super OP story that you can find anywhere.
All that said, I actually really like the source for this series because of where it goes starting next episode.
What genre is this show really?
You might have been tricked into thinking this is going to be a harem show due to the female-laden cast so far. However, our MC breaks that mold and is a devoted, monogamous partner (and the relationship is a pretty great one). This story is a much better romance than it is an isekai.
All that said about feelings and stuff…but, here are some abs…@rikka@ani.social
(I really just wanted to pick this shot because she is doing the Bravern pose)
re: genre
If the focus is the romance, I may give the show another episode, because I tend to like that sort of vibe. It’s a bit of an interesting choice to go all the way through episode 1 without even a hint to that, but that’s always a risk I take when judging things by only episode 1, lol. I’m guessing the girl in question is the wolf demon?
Yep. The female lead is pretty heavily featured in the visuals for the show leading up to its release, so I was a bit surprised not to see her appear in the first episode. I guess they are just taking things a bit slow.
Wait a second… merchant mc… and wolfgirl waifu? Where have I heard this before…
Imagine if the protagonist got treated properly and got sent back to his world (hopefully that’s what happened to the 100+ summoned not-hero before). Nobody (including himself) would have known he has cheat power level.
