Damn I love this series. That was awesome every step of the way.

Grey’s such a simple and sincere man - you threaten his children and you get your head cut off.

And we got some insight into the Hero. It didn’t make any sense that he’s a villain, and apparently his position is similar to what Ariamel’s was apparently meant to be - the schemers took him against his will.

I expect Grey to detach some more heads soon.

I just binged this series and it wasn’t quite what I had expected based on the short mangadex synopsis. I had expected that Grey, being a B-rank adventurer, would be more like an average adventurer that just falls backwards into being the foster father of the hero. Something similar to “My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer” (I think, I haven’t watched it). Instead, Grey is just as strong as any other isekai protagonist.

As I was going through, I was a bit worried that they were setting up a romance between Grey and Ariamel, with other characters comparing her to a wife. However, I was really glad that this was nipped in the bud with the clear interest that Emilia still has in him.

Lots of fun, I will be keeping up with this one.

The thing with Grey seems to be that he was always highly talented but he didn’t really bother to exert himself - he was just sort of coasting until he met the kids.

Emilia and her group apparently saw his potential, and they were just waiting for him to finally step up (well, and apparently Emilia is hoping for some romance too).

And now it’s all coming together - Grey finally has a reason to rise to his potential, and Emilia and the rest are perfectly positioned to help.

And the kids themselves seem to be significant - likely the most significant characters in the long run. I expect that even the youngest ones are going to play a crucial role before this is all over.

And that illustrates a lot of what I love about this series. Each chapter is good in and of itself, but more importantly really, the author is obviously laying the groundwork for something truly epic.
