Another week in the books. Let’s chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.
Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).
My nightmare of technical writing continued this past week, so I have not really read too much. Specifically, I have been working on a number of technical reports and other documents that are likely to be submitted to governmental bodies (FDA, EMA, etc.). This means that every document I am working on has a panel of ~6 people that all need to sign off. So, I feel like I am caught in revision hell as everybody has feedback and it is sometimes contradictory and it overall sucks. This work does let me work fully remote at the moment, but I would trade this for overtime in the lab any day.
Long story short, I haven’t read that much. However, there were a couple bright spots:
- Hajimete no Ojou-sama - The First Times’ Lady - This one is ending in 3 chapters and it has been building to a pretty satisfying conclusion. It stands in stark contrast to Kimi wa Yakamashi Tojite yo Kuchi o! whose ending has been a hot mess.
- 3-Bun Matte Mugi-Senpai - Wait 3 Minutes, Mugi-senpai - Just discovered the first chapter of this series last night and it really surprised me. I didn’t think I would enjoy an advertisement for Cup Noodles as much as I did. According to Mangadex, this series has officially licensed all the Cup Noodles products that appear, so no slightly changed names here!
- Ore ni Trauma wo Ataeta Joshi-tachi ga Chirachira Mitekuru kedo, Zannen desu ga Teokure desu - The Girls Who Traumatized Me Keeps Glancing at Me, but Alas, It’s Too Late - This series has been a hot mess, but I can’t seem to look away from it. The latest drama is actually happening irl as the scanlator that had been working on it just pulled all their chapters. The drama could not be contained just on the pages here!
Completed Flag Capture in the First Move
Each chapter is only a few pages long, so it’s real easy to binge.
This manga is made for me; it’s romcom with no drama whatsoever.
The only downside is that it doesn’t show the characters in relationships.
Fortunately, I have A Story About a Very Ordinary Couple for that (unfortunately, its chapter releases are slow)
romcom with no drama whatsoever
I have been reveling in the drama series recently…I blame Love is Indivisible By Twins and Oshi no Ko that are airing this season. However, having a series like this might be a nice change of pace. These both look great.
