I hope everybody is having a great week! I just wanted to put out a reminder that the nomination window for the year-end awards is closing soon (roughly end of Sunday USTZ).
I wrote a lot about the awards already here in case you are wondering what the hell they are. Feel free to ask any additional questions on this post as well. There are sister awards that are also open for nominations:

Just a little peek behind the scenes - there have been almost twice as many nomination surveys submitted for the manga awards compared to anime.
Do manwha count for manga? I stopped watching anime literally this year, and this would be the last anime awards I could even do properly haha

Ah, I barely have any manga released in 2024 so I probably can’t submit anything
I guess the key is not to be afraid to leave some fields blank.
I don’t follow much romance/romcom stuff, for example, so I only nominated Raise wa Tanin Ga Ii
And I left the VA noms blank because I don’t really pay attention to them.
Also, you can fill out the form twice, if say you have 4 or 5 shows that you’d like to nominate for AOTY
Yeah, not everybody watches all the genres. So, I made sure that leaving things blank is allowed and isn’t punished.
The same will be true for the voting round. People are free to simply not vote for categories that they are not familiar with the genre or the nominees.

My Deer Friend was the funniest anime I’ve seen in a long time. I hope there is gonna be another season.
Hmm, I probably should have read the detailed description before I filled it out, as I totally would have put Apothecary and Frieren above most of the anime that began airing this year. Oops.
It’s all good, because
- we can submit multiple times
- I have nominated Apothecary Diaries and Frieren; just got to vote for them later

I assume this is for 2024 only. I don’t think I’ll ever catch the current year since I have a huge backlog. (I also like watching older animes.)
Nothing wrong with that! It’s like the anime version of being a patient gamer. You’re just letting everyone else figure out what is good or bad.
I think so. Though it’s a little different from being a patient gamer. I’m not being patient here, it’s just the backlog is huge. :)
Maybe I should reshape my backlog, by watching the first episode of series. If it clicks with me, I watch the rest. If not I’ll just drop it for good.
The first isn’t always a good indicator. Watching the first 2 would be better. Also do you watch your backlog chronically?
Well, that depends on the anime but usually the first episode gives me the impression, since I mostly watch slice of life these days.
I wouldn’t say chronically but I watch 1-2 episodes most of the days.
