Vote Here!

Voting is officially open for the 2024 Lemmy Manga Awards. The voting window will remain open until ~05:00 UTC on Dec. 30th (1 week from this post). I have included the final list of nominees (in case you missed it earlier this week) below with each category as a spoiler tag to help keep them organized. Special thanks to @NineSwords@ani.social for creating the graphics in each category.

Voting is done using STAR Voting. So, you will be able to assign each nominee a score from 0-5. The higher your score, the more you want that candidate to win or think it is more deserving. You can assign multiple nominees the same score, indicating that you have no preference between the two of them. For more info on STAR voting, check wikipedia. I have also included below, a quick visual reference to help:

Handy Reference Chart

Thank you everybody for taking the time to submit nominations for these awards. I have learned a lot of lessons from this endeavor and have already thought of lots of ways that these can be improved on for next year. So, if you have thoughts/ideas/concerns, definitely share them with me either in this thread or reach out to me privately.

Finally, a reminder that there are also elections happening for anime and light novels as well:

Happy Voting!

Did a fair bit of reading (at least 5 chapters, sometimes 10) for most of the ones I didn’t know, with exception of 2 or 3. In most cases, this equated at least 1 volume, or at least almost, which I think is a fair amount.

I liked them all, but some of the nominees I didn’t really see why they’d be on this list to be honest, but tastes differ. Maybe some of them get really good later on. I’ll probably keep up with them.

We had a decent number of responses, but when the nominations are spread out among so many potential titles, all it takes is a couple dedicated fans to push one up the list. By comparison, it took significantly more to get an anime nomination because the number of potential series is way less.

One of my ideas for doing this again is to align categories with tags on either Mangadex or AniList and, if a series isn’t listed with that tag, it isn’t eligible for that category. Even then, some can be a bit of a stretch, but it should at least be easier to assign eligibility. I think one of the reasons that Best Suspense got so few nominations is because that category is a bit vague and ill-defined.

Good idea. I struggled with some categories too because I didn’t quite know what counted and what didn’t. Suspense is one of them.
