Better episode this week in my opinion. We didn’t make the story too complicated and instead just focused on Elsa and her experiencing Sasaki’s world. Turns out that Elsa snuck into the crates because she thought Sasaki had taken Marc himself. If that were the case, then I am not sure what she was hoping to accomplish by sneaking into the crates being given to the villain, but kid-logic I guess.

Something I don’t get is Futari. Why did she suddenly attack Elsa after patiently waiting for so long? Then, I guess she wanted to try out the curse by doing it again? I don’t really understand her character that much. Why was she so interested in Sasaki to begin with really? He didn’t do anything too exceptional in their first meeting that I remember, but she is seemingly willing to kill her old allies in order to stay by Sasaki’s side. Maybe we will figure out more as we go.

One other thing I am a bit surprised by is how little Sasaki’s neighbor girl has factored into the story. She is smack dab in the center of the poster promo art and features fairly prominently in the OP. However, she has hardly shown up at all. Even if my theory that she is actually the magical girl that fought with Sasaki previously, she still hasn’t shown up that much. I am expecting we will see more of her before the season is over.

Since Elsa was last seen by the maid at the inn where Sasaki stayed, I was surprised nobody mentioned him when they looked for Elsa in the opening.

Sasaki acted unwisely and carelessly this episode, and Pii-chan who is supposed to be wise not stopping him was also quite unbelievable. He could have send Elsa back immediately, which would have avoided the showdown with Shizuka, the incident with the TV crew, and Akutsu (his boss) finding out about Elsa. It would also have prevented Elsa from gaining too much knowledge about his world, which while gaining her some trust in Sasaki, also made her cautious about an invasion from his world.

He would be better off telling Elsa Pii-chan was the Star Sage, which she could verify with her father, if he wanted her trust, than this mess he got themselves into.

Sasaki’s story had so many holes, it was hard to believe it came from the same person who meticulously fooled Akutsu previously.

Since Akutsu had him under surveillance, it is very hard for me to believe he wouldn’t figure out Sasaki was able to communicate with Elsa. And as Akutsu warned him, Elsa coming from a foreign country is very suspicious since other countries’ governments also keep track of their ESPers. Sasaki also wasn’t worried about eavesdropping when he talked with Elsa in the hotel but perhaps it was not government-provided.

Sasaki doing the magical girl chant very self-consciously at the end was hilarious.

Yeah, some weird choices from Sasaki this episode. I was also surprised not to see any suspicion or mention of Sasaki on the Viscount’s side. Elsa’s last known location was at Sasaki’s place and now neither of them can be found? That looks mighty suspicious. Though, I guess the Viscount might have so much trust in Sasaki/The Star Sage that he thinks it must be necessary or they are already on the case.

I don’t really get what is going through Akutsu’s head. He seems to just let all the weirdness of this situation just roll off his back and doles out the next mission. I almost suspect that he is meant to be a caricature of a Japanese bureaucrat that just doesn’t care about anything outside his own little procedure.

      That episode ending was amazing.

Okay, we are back to Sasaki having to balance the lies and half-truths he has been telling in fantasy world and ours.

Back to the core of this show’s drama.

This was much to Sasaki’s discomfort and my amusement.

P-chan revealed that he knows some truly nasty magic.

Despite Futari’s pleasant smile, you know she has to be scheming on how to get out from under them and screw over Sasaki and Pii. And despite not being able to understand Elsa’s words, how much Futari has deduced from just watching her actions and body language.
