Welp, this episode confirms the Smith = Bravern theory they have been foreshadowing a lot. However, an interesting bit about this is that they don’t really explain at all how it happens. He just has strong emotions, so he combines with some other robot and travels back in time? Idk…feels like they could do better than that. Maybe they will in the coming episodes, but maybe they will just move on and add it to the pile of wacky that this show never bothers to explain or apologize for. Bravern certainly isn’t explaining anything to Isami, and even seemed a bit panicked when he thought that Isami had figured it out.

In case you missed it, there is a post-credit scene (which is where the lead image comes from). Seems like Superbia is in a fighting mood again now that Bravern seems to have ascended to his power level, or something, who knows what’s going through his head. It will be interesting to see how the Lulu-Superbia relationship develops.

Something else I wanted to add here is another shoutout to some great robot bosses. I will never forget you, needlessly horny female super robot:

Finally, I wanted to call out that they really went extra with the animation this episode. From the swirling smoke, to the dramatic explosions, to even the added effects like the trails on Bravern’s eyes, it was really something else. Fantastic job blending the 2D and 3D styles this episode.
