Dungeon Meshi is a well liked manga, and an adaptation by Studio Trigger is now airing. If you haven’t picked this one up, consider joining us. Both for fun and as a way of contributing to activity on Lemmy.
Episodes are available to stream on Netflix.
After a “difficult” descent down some spiral stairs, Laios’ party has arrived on the fifth floor of the dungeon. The location of the Orc settlement, and where they told our group that the Red Dragon has been hanging around. Surely, saving Falin can’t be this close? There are still so many episodes left!
And this I have been looking forward to all week. Today we get our first look at whats happening in the world outside the dungeon. Our main group hasn’t shown much interest in politics, though Chilchuck is something of an activist when it comes to the welfare of halflings. Mr. Tansu, it turns out, reports to the lord of the land on how to manage the dungeon, and how to access its riches.
The plot is beginning to weave in all the other narrative strands of the world, widening the scope of the story.
Namari, Kaka and Kiki also get some more screentime. Namari left the party before Laios explained to Marcille and Chilchuck that Falin was consumed by the red dragon, and so Namari was left unaware of her fate. As such she has been checking the resurrection office for Falin as often as she can. Ready to arrange for her resurrection even despite her money issues.
Remember not to spoil anything if you’re a manga reader, but feel free to elaborate on tidbits of lore that may not be coming through in the adaptation.
Poor Frog-Marcy. Lots of great reaction faces in this episode :D
And the number of winged lions around just spiked again
And boy! What a cliffhanger! Next week can’t come soon enough!
Still, the Red Dragon arc is a WHOPPING 7 CHAPTERS. The only previous multi chapter encounter was Living Armour. At two chapters it was neatly adapted into one episode. Buckle up! “We’re getting to the good part”.
I will save these faces for later
@MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz DAMN YOU AND YOUR SOURCE MATERIAL
I really liked the music in this episode, especially the one song that played during dragon hunt preparation.
Chilchuck is THE goat. Singlehandedly deafeted the frog monster with enviromental damage.
I didn’t wanna be too obvious. But yeah Senshi’s cooking knives are mithril.
Konosuba Pots of admant, knives of mithril? Dude is the envy of every chef around the world.
Hey MentalEdge I made it to this week’s discussion thread. I watched it all! This is pretty fun. Although I’m not sure what kind of mind thinks of what all typical RPG monsters would taste like.
Woo! You’re getting in right as things are heating up, perfect timing.
Laios named his sword Kensuke lmao
Looks like it’s finally time to fight the bbeg. Can’t wait to see how they cook it! If we’re going by Konosuba logic, dragon meat is supposed to taste awful.
He named it back in episode 5, announcing the name right as Marcy and Chilchuck are regretting throwing the “inedible” bugs down the dungeon.
This is the first time we hear Marcille refer to her staff as “Ambrosia” though, unlike Laios, she mostly keeps the fact that she named it to herself :D
Marcille.
MARCILLE.
Here’s you:
My sides went into orbit with Namari’s description of Falyn. Well, if you’re a dorf does it really matter if some tallman is on their 10s or their 40s? Same thing!
dorf
I will now call all dwarves in Dungeon Meshi, dorfs.
Marcille is weak to Laios’ suggestions, eh.
What made Namari sick?
The return spell. It causes intense nausea if you aren’t used to it.
