Another week in the books. Let’s chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.
Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).
Nothing of notice, but I managed to get up to speed with the latest chapters of When I Became a Commoner, They Broke Off Our Engagement!.
It’s the story of two girls, a commoner and a noble, that are swapped at birth by a fairy.
2025 started with a bang - not the fun kind though. It was more of a gut punch followed by a baseball bat to the knee. Lets hope things will go up from here.
On the less serious, manga side I learned that Asura’s Dish of the Day, a cute romance manga I’ve been posting recently was axed early on and has only two more chapters to go. While it wasn’t high art I did have fun reading it so it’s a rather unfortunate piece of news.
Back to reading the usual stuff, I guess.
Damn. What happened? ☹️
I think this probably happens to the majority of manga unfortunately. If they don’t sell well they get canceled and replaced with something else.
Oh I should clarify. I meant this bit:

Sorry about that.
Medical emergency in the family. Not exactly a surprise but turned out to be more immediate and serious than anyone thought it would be. Take care of your mental health folks!
Fuck :(
Sorry that happened to you.
Eh, that’s life. Gotta dust yourself off and keep moving forward - not much else can be done at the moment.
Still, thanks.
was axed early on
Welcome to the life of starting a series early. More often than not it is either axed or the translation team drops it. So many series on Mangadex that I have started now sit without updates in ages. I enjoyed this series, so I hope that they at least finish it up.
I’m aware of this being a possibility, I’ve been through both multiple times, I just didn’t realize this specific series was canceled back in 2021 (I probably wouldn’t pick it up if I did). That’s why I’m not really worried about the translation at least, scanlators knew what’s up and it’s only 2 more chapters.
My manga of the week is Terminator Sharehouse.
I found it on the front page of MangaDex, under Staff Picks.
It is short and sweet at just 5 chapters long. Plus, it is my kind of humour.
I love how it incorporates the typical Terminator tropes too.
I’m going to try to keep this short as I am really not feeling well, but there are a couple things I wanted to mention here:
I mentioned this series before, but if you missed it, this is an autobiographical work in which the author wrote a manga about their experience with colorectal cancer. I have been really enjoying it and the most recent chapter this week was about her surgery to remove the tumor. It’s been really interesting and she has a great sense of humor about it all.
Yes, I have continued to read this series. No, it has not gotten particularly better. However, it has taken the edge off just enough that I can stick with it as a trashy guilty pleasure.
One of my favorites, I am starting to get worried about it. There was a recent fan event for TEIS and there was no news on a new LN volume (just news about the manga and mobile game). The current arc in the manga is coming from LN Vol. 6. Specifically, the most recent chapter this past week comes from chapter 2 of the light novel (out of 5 and some extras). So, it will be sometime this year that the manga runs out of content to adapt. I am hopeful that we get news about LN7 soon, but who knows. The author has had a pretty slow release schedule in the past and now that the series is more popular with the anime and mobile game, they are getting pulled in more directions.

Even if this happens I have faith in the TEIS mangaka. The manga adaptation is really well-made, and shows a clear mastery of comedic timing in comic form. If they have to come up with a filler story I have no doubt it would be hilarious. I doubt that’ll happen soon though; even if there isn’t a publicly available volume 7 of the LN surely the writer can send them a draft or outline or something to go off of.
